1919 - 1923   Studied Art and Archeology in various German cities
1924   Received his Ph.D. in Heidelberg
1926 - 1939   Lived in Paris and worked as an art correspondent for German and Swiss newspapers and art magazines
1945   When WWII ended, he began contributing photos and articles to notable American and European magazines, including the New Yorker, Art News, and Art Voices - continued to work with publications for the rest of his career
