Conceptual artist DoDo Jin Ming (Chinese, b.1955) captures the chaos and power of nature in almost Abstract terms, photographing masses of sunflowers and lotuses dying, the pyramids and sand dunes of Egypt, and the turbulent waves off the coast of Hong Kong, Nova Scotia, and Maine in her Seascapes series. DoDo was born in Beijing and came of age during the Cultural Revolution in China. She studied to be a concert violinist and taught violin for a while in Hong Kong before taking up photography in 1988.

Her first solo exhibition in the United States was at Laurence Miller Gallery, New York, in 1996. In addition to numerous shows as Laurence Miller, her other solo exhibitions include those held at Y Gallery, Hong Kong (1991), Attention Art Gallery, Hong Kong (1994, 1996), The Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong (1996), Verve Gallery, Santa Fe (2004), and Michael Hoppen Contemporary, London (2005). DoDo currently lives in New York.
