Soulacroix was an artist whose paintings represented the refinement, elegance and luxury of the 19th century. His highly detailed and accurate portrayal of colour and texture of fine satins and silks is unrivalled. This painting of a young lady set against a background of rich and ornate furnishings is an exceptional example of his work.
