1832   German Romanticist painter Herman Herzog was born in Bremen, Germany
1848   Studied at Dusseldorf Academy and then traveled extensively throughout Germany, Switzarland, Italy, and Norway
1858   First exhibited in Berlin, where he had many subsequent shows
1870   Came to United States and settled in Philadelphia. Quickly established himself as a leading regional painter and exhibited at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts
1931   Herzog and son Lewis held a joint exhibition for the occasion of Herzog's 100th year celebration
1932   Herzog dies
