Ana Tzarev was born in Croatia in 1937 and spent much of her career in New Zealand and Australia. Her colorful, dramatic style is strongly influenced by her travels in the Asia Pacific region as well as frequent visits to Africa, Japan and Southeast Asia.Ana Tzarev’s paintings center on her observations and experiences gained from worldwide travels as well as her extensive research on the history and cultural traditions of the lands she has visited. She has spent years working in horticulture and her passion for the subject is expressed in a glorious group of floral paintings, many of which feature the flowers she grows outside her studio in France. The tremendous range in her work also includes some challenging subjects in a powerful group of paintings reflecting the sorrow of war, poverty and disease.
