Halim Karabibene Biography

Born in1962, Bizerte (Tunisia).
|
|
|
|
From 1982 to 1993, Halim follows his studies at the School of Architecture of Paris and attends the National School of the Arts of Paris. Meanwhile, he works for the Cultural Service of the Cartier Foundation for the contemporary art in Jouy en Josas and also in Architecture agencies in Paris.

|
Between 1993 and 1999, Halim made a short movie « Images I » in Tunisia, winning the prize Faucon d’Or of the International non-professional Film Festival of Kelibia 95. Receiving a bursary from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Halim directs a documentary “Lamine and Xuly - Bet” at Ateliers Varan in Paris and then starts his first exhibitions abroad. In addition, he receives the gold Trophy of the 12th Festival of the Visual arts of Mahrès (Tunisia).

Between 1999 and 2002, Halim obtains a bursary from the Ministry of Culture in Tunisia for a residency in the International City of the Arts of Paris. Already in 2000, his career is awarded by the National Price for Artistic Creation from the Ministry of Culture in Tunisia.

|
Between 2000 and 2007, he makes several solo and collective exhibitions in Tunisia and abroad such as in Paris, Tripoli, Lyon and Rome. He creates the story-board of two films by J. Saâdi. He gets another bursary from the Ministry for Culture in Tunisia for a residency at the Center of the Living Arts of Radès. Meanwhile, Halim receives the prize of the Tunisian Department for the Environment. He is also the designer of the film “The marriage of the wolf” of J. Saâdi.

Meanwhile, Halim teaches story-board as well as drawing classes at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts of Nabeul (Tunisia) and also painting classes at the Center of the Living Arts in Radès. He works and lives in Bizerte.
