Nigel Ashcroft’s first Exhibition of watercolours since his move to South West France
Fine watercolours by Nigel Ashcroft (Contemporary British) will feature as Frost & Reed’s Annual Exhibition of tempting things to buy for Christmas. The works on offer will be the first samplings to come out of the Artist’s studio since his move last year to the Tarn region of France.
For more than fifteen years devotees of this exceptional artist’s work have delighted in the abundance of variety in what he chooses to paint. Since his permanent move last year to a village some way south of Albi in the Tarn region of France, he has an infinite selection of subjects on the doorstep and it is clear that his range and talents have risen to previously unattained levels. In this collection, buyers will be treated to still life studies of fruit, architectural and landscape studies, kitchen artefacts assembled in the manner of Chardin, Romanesque doorways, carved windows and niches, flowers growing against ancient walls, village houses seen from quirky angles, farmyards baked in the sun and boats idling on still water. He observes the colours in his chosen view and recalls them perfectly in paint, lending texture, atmosphere and life to the objects. His work is rewarding to look at and a delight to own.
With this talented artist newly inspired by the boundless variety that rural France offers, collectors of his work will be keen to make new purchases, for as with good wine, one bottle is never enough to last a lifetime.
