A fine fresh impression of this rarely encountered - and very successful - cubist print. After being introduced to each other by Apollinaire in the spring of 1912 Laboureur and Laurencin became good friends (although often cited, it's not entirely clear that Laboureur taught Laurencin printmaking). Of course Laboureur had been working in the woodcut medium for awhile at this point, having refined his techniqe working closely with his friend Felix Vallotton years earlier. In this portrait Laboureur, by now immersed in working through his personalized cubist approach, portrays Laurencin painting her famous "Les Deux Amies."
