Frank Mckelvey could paint a subject in any medium: oil, watercolour, pastel, always expressed with a great
fluidity and a keen eye to deliver what he had observed.
This refreshing watercolour, was drawn when McKelvey was a young man of 22, but yet he reveals a very mature
technique. The palette is harmonious. The little girl stands dreamlike, half smiling, surrounded by flowering
mayweeds on a sunny summer day.
