Opening reception for the artist will be held on Friday, October 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

We take great pleasure in welcoming Anna Brelsford McCoy to her fifth solo exhibition at the Somerville Manning Gallery. Anna B. McCoy, once again, achieves excellence in her new collection of oils and watercolors. In the tradition of her illustrious McCoy-Wyeth family, she brings powerful emotion to everyday subjects such as Fruit and Cheese, as did so many European and American masters.

McCoy paints these new works with a new found confidence in her own convictions. The eyes in the painting, Able Seaman, tell the story of a long and well-lived life. Leaving Chadds Ford, depicting a fur hat hanging on an old chair bathed in sunlight, evokes the poignancy of leaving her childhood home.

Anna B. McCoy is the granddaughter of N.C. Wyeth and the daughter of Ann Wyeth McCoy and John McCoy. Painting runs in the family and it is no wonder that Anna B. developed the skill and desire to paint. Constant exposure to artists and their works as a young girl was the beginning of Anna B's life long fascination with paint. She studied under her father and her aunt, Carolyn Wyeth, both well known for their mastery of paint. McCoy has continued with a successful career as a painter and as a talented portrait artist.
