Opening September 17
The first solo exhibition by Ali Kazma in Switzerland will be featuring six videos from the Obstructions series Clock Master, 2006 Rolling Mills, 2007 Jean Factory, 2008 Butcher 02, 2008 Dance Company, 2009 Casa di Moda, 2009 Ali Kazma, 1971, lives and works in Istanbul. He received his MA degree from The New School in New York City. His videos raise fundamental questions about the significance of human labor and the meaning of economy, production, and social organization. He has exhibited his work at the Istanbul Biennial (2001), Tokyo Opera City (2001), Platform Garanti, Istanbul (2004), Cetinje Biennial (2004), Istanbul Modern (2004), 9th Havana Biennial (2006), San Francisco Art Institute (2006), and Lyon Biennial (2007) (curator, Hou Hanrou) among others. He also shows with Francesca Minini Gallery in Italy.
Retroprospective is meant to provide a comprehensive presentation of Kazma's work and to pave the way for future projects.
