Looking at a Linda Christensen painting is like watching the process of discovery written across canvas. Her work invites the viewer on a journey from representation to abstraction and off into a world of her own inventing. Christensen’s core subject matter is the human form - the body as an expressive and interpretive vehicle. While based on figurative elements, the pieces are driven by juxtapositions of color, texture, scribbles and marks. Shapes and patterns that wouldn’t seem to follow a logical thread become innate within the context of her work. Somehow we have a sense that a Christensen painting couldn’t have been any other way.
