Presented for the first time in New York City's Park Avenue Armory during the 2009 IFPDA Print Fair, Italian master MIMMO PALADINO (Italian, b. 1948) exhibits his monumental Untitled, 2009, a full-figure standing prone, covered in black birds, and reminiscent of the large bronze sculptures found in recent work. This seminal print which is printed and published by the Mixografia® Workshop in Los Angeles follows years of exploration by the artist in all print media dating back to 1974 when he drew his first etching plate. Adding interest to Untitled, 2009, is the notion that the artist employs his practice of adding collaged elements directly onto the surface of some works, and for this print has supplied cast black birds in a penetrating and rhythmic interaction after printing.
