Berry-Hill Galleries is pleased to present Jane Manus: Function/Form, a new series of work completed in 2009. This is the first solo exhibition of Manus’s work at Berry-Hill Galleries. Jane Manus: Function/Form opens Wednesday, October 7th and runs through Saturday, October 31st, 2009.
Jane Manus creates large scale outdoor sculptures of remarkable beauty that possess a unique aesthetic—both graceful and pure. Her brilliant artistic vision also translates into magnificent wall pieces and small scale sculptures. Working in powder coated, welded aluminum her works communicate in a visual language celebrating clean uncluttered form. To further enhance the feeling of pure geometry the surfaces are beautifully painted in bold primary colors. Manus also uses her exceptional design aesthetic to create exquisite and functional furniture. Included in this exhibition is a carved marble and aluminum coffee table conceived in collaboration with the renowned artist and scholar Tom Lollar who directs the Lincoln Center Visual Arts program.
Jane Manus received a B.F.A. degree from Rollins College and is included in numerous private and public collections worldwide including The Harn Museum of Art, Gainesville, Florida; The Lincoln Center / List Collection, New York; Georgia Museum of Art, Athens, Georgia; Flint Institute of Art, Flint, Michigan; The Wichita Art Museum, Wichita, Kansas and The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio.
