Anita Shapolsky keeps exhibiting energetic and vigorous Abstract Expressionism that captures attention with an arresting play of moods. The interesting works on display once again contribute to the vibrant New York art scene.
Anita Shapolsky Gallery presents a group exhibition “Potpourri” – opening on Thursday, October 8, 2009. The show features paintings and sculptures of the masters of Abstract Expressionism. The works on display are examples of the use of various techniques, materials and different artistic ideas of the 50’s and 60’s. The contrast of sculpture and painting heightens our awareness of the diverse understandings that abstract expressionists brought to texture, color, and dimension. The sculpture of Mark Gibian has been commissioned by both New York City and State. His work reinvigorates the ideas of Abstract Expressionism. David Hayes sculptures are currently on view at the Guggenheim in the Sweeney Collection.
