1849 Born: Williamsburg, Indiana
1861 Received first artistic training under a local painter (Indianapolis) Barton S. Hays
1869 Studied at the National Academy of Design in New York under Lemuel P. Wilmarth
1872 Attends the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich
1882 Chase helped found the Society of American Painters in Pastel
1891 - 1902 Taught classes at Shinnecock Hills, Long Island
1903 Chase was elected a member of The Ten, the association of prominent New York and Boston Impressionists
1916 Died: New York City, NY
