Biography
1912 Born: Guadalupe, San José, Costa Rica
1931 Awarded the 1st Painting Prize and the 2nd Sculpture Prize at the National Exhibition of Plastic Arts, San Jose, Costa Rica
1935 Awarded the 1st Sculpture Prize, National Exhibition of Plastic Arts, San Jose, Costa Rica
1936 Moved to Mexico and starded studying at the Escuela de Talla Directa, Mexico City, Mexico
1958 Awarded the Prize in sculpture by the Mexican National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico City, Mexico
1938 - 1970 Taught at La Esmeralda, School of painting, sculptur and print, mexico City, Mexico
1986 Became a Mexican citizen
1987 Became Member of the Academy of Arts of Mexico, Mexico
1990 Became blind, continues to work in terra cotta at his studio, Mexico City, Mexico
1992 Received the National Award for the Arts, Mexico
1996 Awarded the Goya Gold Medal from the Domecq Foundation
