1885 Born in Bordeaux, France
1897 Apprenticed to local furniture maker to be trained as wood sculptor
1898 - 1904 studied decorative sculpture at the École de Beaux-Arts, Paris, France
1910 Galerie Druet, Paris, France (solo exhibition)
1912 Salon de le Section d'Or, Galerie de la Boetie, Paris, France (group exhibition)
1914 With the outbreak of WW1, Lhote joined the French Army
1917 Discharged from the Army
1918 - 1920 Taught at the Academie Notre Dame de Champs, Montparnasse, France
1922 Founded Academie Montparnasse (art school), Montparnasse, France
1917 - 1940 Art critic for "La Nouvelle Revue Francaise" magazine
1952 Opened a second branch of the Académie Montparnasse in Rio de Janeiro
