1927 Born in Brooklyn, NY
1928 Moves to St. Albans, Queens
1946 - 1949 Studies at the Cooper Union Art School, New York, NY
1949 - 1950 Studies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Showhegan, Maine
1968 Moves to present home and studio in New York
1994 Cooper Union Art School creates the Alex Katz Visiting Chair in Painting with the endowment provided by the sale of ten paintings donated by the artist
