1901 Born: Le Havre, France (July 31)
1918 Studied at the Académie Julien
1925 Returned to Le Havre after military service and trip to Italy. Worked initially as a wine merchant.
1933 Returned to painting, though only temporarily
1942 Finally decided to dedicate entire attention to art
1985 Died: Paris, France (May 12)
