1625 Returns to Leiden, opens studio shared with friend Jan Lievens
1628 Changed to small plates
1630 Moves to Amsterdam
1632 Attempts large plate "The Large Raising of Lazarus"
1634 Becomes a member of the Guild of St. Luke and establishes a large workshop
1642 Paints "The Night Watch"
1642 First wife Saskia dies one year after giving birth to their fourth child, Titus. He will be the only of the four to live into adulthood
1654 Second wife Hendrickje Stoffels gives birth to daughter, Cornelia
1660 Son Titus and wife Hendrickje set up an art-dealing business
1669 Dies in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on October 4th, leaving the painting Simeon with the Christ Child in the Temple uncompleted
