1940 - 1943 Studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam
1948 Founds the Cobra Group
1950 Moves to Paris
1954 Received the UNESCO Prize at the Venice Biennale of 1954
1958 Becomes an internationally recognized artist
2006 Died on May 3
