Biography
1940 Born Iris Patricia Sukoneck in Newark, New Jersey (April 10).
1956 - 1958 Studied graphic art at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York.  
1958 - 1960 Studied at Boston University, Massachusetts.
1962 Received BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
1966 - 1970 Art Director, Harper & Row Publishing Company, New York, New York.
1970 - 1973 Taught at Parsons School of Design, Princeton University, and Hunter College.
1973 Awarded N.E.A. Individual Artist grant.
1974 Received Individual Artist's Grant, National Endowment for the Arts
1973 - 1975 Lived in Los Angeles. Taught at California Institute of the Arts.
1976 Awarded N.E.A Grant for Art in Public Institutions.
1975 - 1978 Traveled in United States and Europe. Founding board member of Printed Matter bookshop, New York City, and Heresies magazine. Editorial Board of Semiotext.
1981 Awarded Guggenheim grant.
1982 Received Guggenheim Fellowship
1991 Received Honorary Doctorate of Fine Art from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York.
1992 Honored by the American Woman's Economic Development Corporation with their Salute to Women in the Business of Art, sponsored by Avon and ARTnews.
2001 Boston University School for the Arts Distinguished Alumni Award
Lives and works in New York and Amsterdam.
