An Austrian master, Friedensreich Hundertwasser is famous for his paintings, graphics, sculptures and revolutionary architectural designs. The common themes in his work are a rejection of the straight line, bright colors, organic forms, a reconciliation of humans with nature, and a strong individualism. |

He briefly attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1948 before producing his own work in the late 1940s, and was inspired by the works of Egon Schiele from an early stage. Hundertwasser’s style is often compared to that of Gustav Klimt. He was fascinated with spirals, calling straight lines the devil’s tools and was particularly interested in the experience of the viewer over that of the artist. |
