1866 Born May 10 in Grodno, Belarus, Russia
1898 Bakst, Benois, and Serge Diaghilev founded the group Mir Iskusstva (World of Art)
1902 - 1903 Created stage designs for the Hermitage and Aleksandrinskii theatres in St. Petersburg
1903 - 1904 Fulfilled several commissions for the Marinskii theatre
1906 Became a teacher of drawing at Yelizaveta Zvantseva's private school, where Marc Chagall was one of his students
1909 Began his collaboration with Diaghilev, which resulted in the founding of the Ballets Russes, and Bakst serving as the artistic director
1912 Settled in Paris, France
1924 Died December 27 in Paris, France
