1913 Family moved to Reading, PA
1931 Employed by the Kase Glass Company
1933 Moved to New York City
Studied art at the National Academy of Design under artists such as Charles Curran, Ivan Olinsky, Gifford Beal, and Leon Kroll
1933 - 1936 Attended the National Academy of Design
1936 Hired by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as a teacher at Queen's Museum
1938 Began WPA Easel Painting Project
1941 April 12, married Ethel Copstein
1947 Awarded the Walter M. Campana Memorial Purchase Prize by the Art Institute of Chicago
1948 Founded and taught at the Subject of the Artist art school, New York, NY
1949 - 1952 Taught painting at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and New York University
1950 - 1952 Taught at the People's Art Center for the Museum of Modern Art, New York NY
