1942 Left the Pacific and reassigned to the European theater after he was on the USS Vincennes that sunk at the Battle of Savo Island
1939 - 1945 Became photojournalist for Life magazine covering WWII in the Pacific
1946 covered the reconstruction of Europe after the war
1940 - 1970 Approximately the date of Morse's 30 years of service to Life magazine
1970 - 1980 Worked with Jim McNitt at Time magazine
