1913 Born, Hartington, Nebraska
1931 - 1935 Student, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, study with Boris Anisfeld [1879-1973]; later as instructor at AIC
1935 - 1937 Edward L. Ryerson Fellowship for Foreign Travel and Study. Worked, studied, and traveled extensively in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Scandinavia, North Africa, and England
