Biography
1916 Born in Vallejo, California
1932 - 1933 First public exhibitions of original drawings at Haggin Museum in Stockton, California
1934 Life drawing and painting at California School of Fine Arts, San Francisco, California
1934 - 1937 Received first Scholarship, awarded at Art Center School, Los Angeles, California. Studied under Stanley Reckless and Barse Miller.
1937 Began portrait commissions through agent Ernst Von Harringa. Due to the Depression, most people were unable to afford such luxuries, so McIntosh began work at Disney Studios painting backgrounds (oil on glass in classic realistic style) for Pinocchio, Fantasia and numerous other films.
1937 Exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Art, Oakland Museum of Art, and Crocker Museum of Art in Sacramento, California
1942 Drafted and assigned to Jack Warner's first Motion Picture Unit for the Air Force at Hal Roach Studios
1948 Purchase prize and first prize watercolor, Los Angeles County Museum Art
1940 - 1950 Beginning of experimentations in Cubism and Expressionism. Annual exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
1960 - 1969 Ventures into Abstraction and Collage
1960 - 2007 Continuing work in all mediums, Realism to Abstractions and impressions of his travels throughout the world
2007 Robert McIntosh introduced to Trigg Ison through a mutual friend. Trigg Ison Fine Art is now the exclusive representative of the original art of Robert McIntosh.
