Biography
Gustave Cariot was born in Paris and eventually joined up with the Société des Artistes Indépendent and began exhibiting in major Parisian exhibitions. He exhibited at the Salon National des Beaux Arts and at the Autumn and Winter Salons. He was predominantly interested in the technique of the Pointillists but never became a fully fledged Neo-Impressionist. He was inspired by Monet's series of studies of Haystacks and of Rouen Cathedral.
