Biography
1931 Born on August 16th in Castelsarrasin, France
1935 - 1939 He is only 4 years old when his family moves to Barcelona, just before the beginning of Spanish civil war. In his childhood he goes through all the difficulties connected with war and post-war times.
1944 - 1948 He works in a glass factory. In a religious images workshop he learns polychrome technique. At the same time, he continues to go to school in order to enter the Fine Arts Academy.
1949 - 1953 He is admitted to the "Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi" in Barcelona. He goes on studying polychromy.
1957 - 1960 A French Goverment grant allows him to complete his training in Paris, where he attends the courses of the "Ecole des Beaux Arts" and of "L'Académie de la Grande Chaumière".
1960 - 1962 He wins a grant to go to London. He wins the first prize for British Railways tourist promotion poster ( British Railways Poster Competitions, 1961 ). The original becomes the possession of the British Crown Museum.
1963 - 1964 He goes back to Barcelona once and for all.
1970 First trip to Milan. His constructivist work awakens a great interest in the architecture world. He stars developing kinetics. He makes the Poster for the European Swimming Championship of Barcelona.
1971 He is invited by the Spanish Contemporary Art Museum to participate to a travelling exhibition in various European and American cities.
1972 First trip to United States of America. Participates in the XXXVI Biennales in Venice.
1975 He starts spending long periods in his country house in the Ampurdà region, near the Costa Brava.
1977 The period of "Magic Realism" begins: still life, landscape and boats. His work is the reflection of his culture and his country. He is an artist who never wanted to lose his roots, his way of seeing things, his way of being.
1992 Returns to Italy after many years.
1994 In October the French Government organizes homage to him in his hometown, Castelsarrasin
1997 He receives the special commemoration for his career from his town of Barcelona.
He now lives and works in Barcelona.

Exhibitions
2001 Navarro Vives exhibits his anthology at the Contini Gallery in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
1999 He exhibits at the Contin Art Gallery in Venice, Italy, and at the Craighead-Green Gallery, Dallas (USA).
1998 He exhibits at the Arcadi Calzada Gallery in Olot, Spain.
