Catherine M. Elliott is a contemporary artist whose work is evocative of the American Impressionistic style of painting. She credits both the American and French impressionists as well as early and contemporary plein air painters as her chief influences (Monet, Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, and Wolf Kahn). She has studied with some of the most celebrated and collected plein air painters in America and has studied fine art color and light for over 20 years. Her paintings explore atmospheric and lighting conditions and are generally painted on location and later finished in the studio. Ms. Elliott has created numerous commissioned pieces, both commercial and private. She is an elected member of the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
