Biography
1869 Born in village Kazanka in Orenbourg region, Russia
1885 - 1891 Studied iconography in the Afon Monastery in Greece
1892 - 1899 Student of I.Repin in the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts
1900 Caused a sensation with his debut painting "Laughter" at the International Exhibition in Paris and was awarded with a Golden medal. Later on the painting was exhibited in Venice and acquired by the Italian Government for the Venetian Academy.
1903 Became a member of the Russian Union of Artists
1906 Became a member of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. Lived and worked in St.Petersburg and Ryazan. Made several trips to France.
1922 Emmigrated to France
1924 Exhibition in the Charpentier gallery in Paris
1927 Participated in the 27th International Painting Exhibition in Pittsburg
1928 Participated in the 16th International Art Exhibition in Venice
1930 - 1940 Personal exhibitions in Paris, Belgrade, Prague, Nice, Stockholm, London
1940 Died in Nice
