Biography
1911 Born Hamburg, Germany
1993 Harrington was honoured by CAPIC (Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators) for “A Lifetime Achievement in Photography.”
2001 Harrington was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada.

1995 Inuit Natives of Canada: Milan, Italy. Photographs accompanied a show of Inuit carvings
1992 Arctic Images: Canon International sponsored this show of Harrington’s images at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. The exhibit then became a traveling show, appearing in several major Japanese cities.
1987 Incredible Journeys: Canadian Museum of Photography director Lorraine Monk created this show to honour Richard Harrington with an exhibition of his Arctic images
1980 Face of the Arctic: Sponsored by the Anchorage Historical and Fine Arts Museum. Anchorage, Alaska.
1955 Family Man: Four of Harrington’s photographs were selected. This exhibition included 503 photographs from 273 photographers from 68 countries. Harrington was the only Canadian photographer represented. The show opened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
