1935 Born in Franklin, Georgia
1953 Family moves to N.Y.C. when he is 6 years old. Graduates from the famedHigh School of Music and Art. Relocates to Detroit, Michigan, 1953.
1958 Marries Gwendolyn Howell. Together they have three children (Dana L. 1959-B.A., B.F.A.; Larry M. 1960-B.A., CTA; Kara E. 1969-B.F.A.,M.F.A.)
