Don McCullin was born in London in 1935. At the age of thirteen he won a scholarship for his painting to the Hammersmith School of Arts and Ctafts, but when his father died two years later he was forced to go out to work. He joined the RAF to do his National Sercive and became a photographic assistant working on aerial reconnaissance printing. During that time he brought his first camera, a Rolliecord. |
