Biography
Roberto Aizenberg born in Argentina, in 1928. He comes from a well established family who had emigrated from Russia. He wanted to become an architect but on seeing the paintings of the famous Argentinian surrealish artist, Juan Batlle-Planas, he was inspired to follow him and he studied with Planas between 1950 and 1953.
In 1958 he had his first solo exhibition at the Galatea Gallery. He has since developed his own personal style and has remained faithful to surrealism. He works slowly and painstakingly and has not produced more than about fifty paintings and two hundred drawings in all. His first retrospective exhibition took place at the Instituto Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires in 1969.
