1927 Founded the legendary Atelier 17 studio in Paris, France
1929 Began to exhibit with the Salon des Surindependents, Paris, France

1951 Received an Officer (OBE) rank in the Order of the British Empire
The French government awarded him the Légion d'honneur
1967 Was made Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Paris, France
