Biography
1886 Born, Philadelphia, PA
1906 - 1910 Attended Drexel Institute and Philadelphia Academy of Arts
1919 Torr met Arthur Dove in Connecticit
1924 Torr and Dove left their respective unhappy marriages and moved together to Halesite, NY
1933 - 1938 Dove and Torr relocate to Geneva, NY
1938 They moved back to Long Island, purchases a cottage in Centerport
1946 Arthur Dove dies, Torr becomes a recluse
1967 Died in Centerport, NY
1967 Mary Rehm, Torr's sister, inherits her work. Rehm contacted Eva Ingersoll Gatling, then director of the Heckscher Museum of Art who put on a major exhibiton of her work.
1998 The Dove/Torr cottage was purchased by the Heckscher Museum of Art with the assistance of a New York State Historic Preservation grant
