Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art represents leading names in contemporary Canadian and International art, specializing in paintings, works on paper and sculpture. The gallery opened June 4, 1992 in an old steel plant in Calgary's warehouse district; providing the viewer with a slice of Chelsea in Calgary. The gallery has successfully developed a strong following for its artists regionally, nationally and internationally with an excellent and exciting program of solo, group and thematic exhibitions. Most of our artists have several museum exhibitions to their credit and are included in many important museum collections. The gallery has a commitment to new art as well as "new to Calgary art", hosting museum quality curated exhibitions, for example "Selected Paintings from the Jack Bush Estate".
In 1997 Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art constructed its own free standing facility designed by architect, Peter Lawrence Wood, our facility includes three main galleries; a viewing room, outdoor sculpture court, meeting room and offices. The gallery is located in Calgary's uptown trendy boutique, cafe, and gallery district.
Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art is owned and directed by Helen Zenith and Tamar Zenith (mother/daughter). Helen is a fine arts graduate with over 30 years experience in the Canadian art world. Tamar, a business graduate, overlooks the administration and marketing. Together, they advise and assist private, corporate and institutional collectors in acquiring art and all aspects of managing their collections.
Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art is a member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada.
