LE CLAIRE KUNST was founded in Hamburg in 1982. The company specializes in works on paper, Old Master, nineteenth and early twentieth-century paintings and is one of the world's leading dealerships. Well-researched catalogues offer a broad overview of the company's activities.

German art is a major field of interest, particularly artists like Blechen, C. D. Friedrich, Schnorr von Carolsfeld, Hackert, Runge, Overbeck and Menzel. Important artists of the Italian, French, Dutch and Flemish Schools such as Zuccaro, Piranesi and Tiepolo; Watteau, Fragonard and Boucher; Dusart, Ostade and Ruisdael; Goltzius, and Rubens are a second major field of interest. The company has also recently begun to specialize in late nineteenth and early twentieth-century art and is currently offering works by Degas, Redon, Rodin, Corinth and Liebermann.

The company also focuses on late eighteenth and early nineteenth-century paintings and oil sketches, particularly by the early plein-air artists – Reinhart, Catel, Schilbach, Valenciennes and Granet; and Scandinavian artists of the Golden Age such as Dahl, Eckersberg, Fearnley, Lundbye and Købke.

The company's clients include numerous museums in Germany and abroad, and a large number of private collectors in Europe and the United States.
