In the last 29 years, Fay Gold has become one of the most respected contemporary art experts in the country. She has networked throughout the world, exhibiting her artists at art fairs in Paris, Madrid, Basel, Chicago, New York, Miami and London. In 1979, Fay became a founding member of AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers). Her portrait has been taken by Robert Mapplethorpe, Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, Joyce Tenneson and McDermott & McGough. She opened her gallery in 1980 with the work of George Segal, followed by Alex Katz, Robert Rauschenberg, Irving Penn, Lisette Model, Bill Brandt, Walker Evans, Robert Doisneau and Robert Motherwell. By 1982 she had exhibited Frank Stella, Robert Mapplethorpe, Louise nevelson, Janet Fish, August Sander and Eugene Atget. Highlights of 1983 included Cindy Sherman and a lecture by Susan Rothenberg. By 1984 exhibitions included William Eggleston, Jim Dine, Robert Longo, Allan McAllum, Richard Price, William Christenberry and Joel-Peter Witkin. Fay has guided and educated Atlantans by showing cutting edge artists at her gallery ahead of their time.
Fay was born in Greenville, South Carolina and grew up in New York City. She graduated from Adelphi University majoring in theater and art history. In 1966, she moved South and taught painting for 15 years, acquiring a major private art collection. She received the "Big Thinker Award" from the Brain Injury Asssociation of Georgia and was recently honored with a tribute at The Contemporary Art Center for her pioneering vision and profound dedication to the Atlanta Contemporary art scene. Fay is currently an art advisor to private and corporate clients andhas an impressive inventory of secondary market resales. (By request only)
