The Galerie Gloeckner was founded in 1976 by Bruno and Claudia Gloeckner. Our first exhibition was a show of Max Liebermann's graphic work. Since the beginning we've been specializing in European (mostly German) prints and drawings (works on paper) from the early 20th Century.

This primarily German Expressionism and Impressionism by such artists as Ernst Barlach, Max Beckmann, Lovis Corinth, Otto Dix, Lyonel Feininger, George Grosz, Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Käthe Kollwitz, Wilhelm Laage, Max Liebermann, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Emil Nolde, Emil Orlik, Hermann Max Pechstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Richard Seewald and others.

Also, there was a very important group of artists working in Cologne before World War II known as the "Kölner Progressive" who specialized in social and political art. These are (for example) Gerd Arntz, Franz W. Seiwert and Heinrich Hoerle.

The gallery represents the estate of Gerd Arntz and recently had a great show to celebrate his 100th birthday.
