Gebert Contemporary was founded as Chiaroscuro Gallery in 2000 by the Gebert Family. Our affiliate in Scottsdale, Arizona was founded the following year. The Santa Fe gallery became Gebert Contemporary in January 2007.
Gebert Contemporary has two locations in Santa Fe: 558 Canyon Road and 544 South Guadalupe Street. The main gallery is on historic Canyon Road and has two large buildings and a sculpture garden. This location at 558 Canyon Road exhibits the full gallery program of contemporary abstract painting and sculpture. The new location on Guadalupe Street is in the Railyard District across from SITE Santa Fe. This building is a 6,000 square foot project space that can accommodate monumental sculpture and painting as well as video and installation pieces.
Gebert Contemporary specializes in the contemporary abstract painting and sculpture of an international group of artists. While most of the gallery artists are mid-career and established, we do exhibit a small number of emerging artists. Exhibited works come from Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Germany, Mexico, Nicaragua, Poland, Spain, and the United States.
