Pierce Galleries' dedication to scholarship, expertise and the unveiling of ground-breaking historical data dates back to 1972, when Patricia Jobe Pierce authored the first of many acclaimed art history books. The hit list includes: John Joseph Enneking, American Impressionist (1972); the first comprehensive text of the nearly forgotten revolutionary group The Ten (1976) with biographies on Benson, DeCamp, Dewing, Hassam, Metcalf, Tarbell, Reid, Simmons, Twachtman, Weir and Chase; the earliest text on Edmund C. Tarbell and the Boston School of Painting (1980); and the candid, rave-reviewed Art Collecting and Investing, the Inner Workings and the Underbelly of the Art World (co-authored with her husband Marco Apollo, 2003) and more.

Incorporated in 1968, Pierce Galleries, Inc. combines market connoisseurship with scholarly expertise to build relevant and diverse 19th and 20th century American art collections for individuals, corporations and institutions. Pierce Galleries specializes in the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, Post-impressionism, Realism, Modernism, African and Asian art; currently is compiling catalogue raisonnés on Edmund C. Tarbell, John Joseph Enneking, William S. Barrett, and Chauncey Ryder; and represents the estates of Anne Carleton, J.W.S. Cox, Martin Kaelin, Laurence Kupferman, Marguerite Pearson, Chauncey Ryder, Caleb Arnold Slade, William Lester Stevens, and Louise Woodroofe.

With over 40 years of professional handling experience, Pierce Galleries, Inc. is an art haven where individual collectors, museums, and corporations find the art they are looking for. Inventory selections are extensive and include the Hudson River School, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, the Ash Can School, Realism, Modernism, marines, genres, portraiture and a select group of contemporary artists. Patricia Pierce is a senior member of the Appraisers Association of America (1974-) and a world authority on John Joseph Enneking, Edmund C. Tarbell, The Boston School, The Ten American painters, Jane Peterson, Edward Henry Potthast, and more. She is among the first in the field to lecture and write about purchasing American art as an investment and the galleries have placed important works in prestigious collections.

As an invaluable resource for art collectors and investors, our galleries enthusiastically provide consultation services and as dealers who are deeply experienced in a variety of price ranges, we unite knowledge with integrity to best serve the needs of our clientele.
