Founded in September 1986, American Contemporary Art Gallery is proud to announce the celebration of its 20th anniversary. For the past two decades, the recognition of Abstract Expressionism in Europe has vastly improved. In fact, more and more museums focus on the exploration of this particular art movement and organize exhibitions of great detail and insight. We are pleased to report that in the past ten years alone, we were able to place works from Estates and Foundations that we represent in eighteen museum exhibitions. These were held at:

Aargauer Kunsthaus Aarau, Boca Raton Museum of Art Florida, Museo Cantonale d'Art Lugano, Centro Culturale Candiani Venice-Mestre, Museo Correr Venice, Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain Nice, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Haus der Kunst München, Hypo-Kulturstiftung München, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt, Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, Ulmer Museum Ulm, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigsburg, Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice and Grimaldi Forum Monaco

In September 2006, The Grimaldi Forum in Monaco closed the critically acclaimed NEW YORK NEW YORK, one of their most successful exhibitions to date. It was American Contemporary Art Gallery, who developed the title and concept of presenting painting and sculpture in context with film, music, architecture, and photography footage of New York from 1940 to 1990, and co-curated the section devoted to Abstract Expressionism.

Current projects are the exhibition 'Gottlieb Sculpture' at the Joan Miró Museum in Palma de Mallorca, organized by the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, as well as a tribute to the work of David Smith, shown in the Centre Pompidou and organized by the David Smith Estate. The latter will continue to travel to the Tate in London.
In February 2007, the work of Richard Pousette-Dart will be shown at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice. This project marks the cooperative effort of the museum, the Estate of Richard Pousette-Dart and our gallery.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of American Contemporary Art Gallery, we decided to dedicate one major exhibition to each of the artists we represent. With great support of the Estates and Foundations we will inaugurate this celebration with David Smith and continue with selections of works by Hans Hofmann, Richard Pousette-Dart, Adolph Gottlieb, Jack Tworkov, and Sam Francis (in that order).

This publication is intended to provide an overview of the upcoming gallery program in 2007 and 2008. In addition, we have decided to feature a selection of 100 major works from the gallery inventory on our website.

Thank you for your continuous support of American Contemporary Art Gallery,

Kirstin and Otto Hübner.
