Kent Gallery was incorporated in 1985 with its first gallery space located in the Fuller Building located at Madison and 57th Street. In an effort to locate its program closer to the artists’ community, the gallery moved to Soho for a decade (1993-2003), followed by its present location in the Chelsea Art District of New York.

Committed to the critical base of the artists represented by the gallery, Kent maintains an active program having organized over 130 exhibitions and 40 publications. Kent has a strong tradition of presenting projects and artists of social conscience.

Since it’s inception, Kent has pursued a tradition of viewing historical material thru a contemporary portal including in-depth projects concerning Medardo Rosso, Francis Picabia, Herbert Bayer, and the AIZ/VI photomontages of John Heartfield. Presently, work is ongoing to complete the catalogue raisonne for Paul Laffoley, founder of the Boston Visionary Cell.
