Ferran Cano Gallery specializes in contemporary and emerging artists since 1973. The gallery has two exhibition spaces, one in Palma de Mallorca and the other one in Barcelona, as well as a workshop studio for artists.
Ferran Cano Gallery takes part in international art fairs (ARCO, Art Basel, Art Chicago, FIAC, Art Cologne....). Ferran Cano Darder has been a member of the committees of ARCO in 1991 and 1992 and of Art Chicago in 1993.
In its 30-year history the gallery has been a meaningful space for art life in Palma and Barcelona. The debut of the gallery was supported by Joan Miró and Robert Graves; and brought to Mallorca the first solo exhibitions by Saura, Tàpies, Arroyo, Johns, Hockney, Warhol, Beuys...
Since the Eighties the focus on giving space to emerging artists has grown stronger, and the gallery had supported the first exhibits by Miquel Barceló, Joan Brossa, José Manuel Broto, Chema Cobo, Ferran García Sevilla...
Both gallery spaces in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca show ten exhibitions per year and produce specific projects, graphic editions, catalogues, etc. Ferran Cano Gallery exchanges with galleries and artist-led collectives in Spain and other countries. For its 30th anniversary this year, the gallery developed a guest artists program, parallel to the gallery artists program, confirming this interest for the dialogue.
Remaining true to himself, Ferran Cano makes compatible an ethical and
artistic engagement with his local scene and the reality of young artists, with a great curiosity and sensibility for the events in other international scenes.
