Gana Art Gallery

Since its inception in 1983, Gana Art Gallery has organized over 300 exhibitions, representing artists from both the Korean sphere, as well as from abroad. The Gallery's primary focus is on 20th century Korean and Western masterworks. And exhibitions have included myriad media of modern and contemporary art: painting, sculpture, video art, installation, and in particular, contemporary photography.

Since its formative years, Gana Art Gallery has been committed to providing the Korean public with exposure to important modern artists from abroad. Indeed, the introduction of international art to Korean communities has fueled a greater appreciation for its varied applications, and the Gallery has played a central role in catalyzing this process. Some notable exhibitions have included those of : Georges Braque, Joan Miró, Jean Dubuffet, Antoni Tápies, Kenneth Noland, Sam Francis, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Georg Baselitz, Tom Wesselmann etc.

Additionally from 2001, the Gallery has administered the annual ‘International Photo Festival.’ This important event has enabled mainstream contemporary artists to have their work viewed in Korea, as they are being simultaneously discovered and developed elsewhere in the world. Some artists that have participated in this event are : Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Vik Muniz, Candida Höfer, Vanessa Beecroft, Elger Esser etc.
