Established in 1974, Nathan A. Bernstein & Co. Ltd., has built a reputation over the past thirty years on the exhibition and sale of blue chip fine art to museums and high profile collections. The gallery’s primary focus is late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century European and American Masters. Specializing in paintings, drawings and sculpture, Nathan A. Bernstein has showcased artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Paul Klee, and Max Beckmann.

In the past few years, clients have become increasingly interested in the gallery’s contemporary inventory, which includes works by Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, Fernando Botero, Ed Ruscha, Ghada Amer, Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami, Mr., and Zhang Xiaogang. With the mix of resale and primary work, the gallery maintains a very current and well-articulated profile in the art world at large, working as international art dealers predominantly in Switzerland, France and the United States.

In January 2006, Nathan A. Bernstein opened the current gallery space at 21 East 65th Street. The gallery works closely with both established and new collectors, aiding in the location of exclusive works of art that are not available to the public market, building cohesive collections, as well as providing advisory services and assisting individuals in navigating the art world.

The privacy of our clientele is of greatest concern; our services include appraisal, purchase and sale of works of art on behalf of our clients. For the past twenty five years Nathan A. Bernstein & Co. Ltd. has consigned and purchased specifically targeted items at the top international auction houses through close contact with specialists at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Phillip’s, Bonhams and Doyle, as well as other international auction houses.

Professional memberships include such esteemed organizations as the Appraisers Association of America (AAA), the Private Art Dealers Association (PADA), and the International Confederation of Art and Antiques Dealers (CINOA). In addition, Nathan A. Bernstein has served on the acquisitions committee of the Israel Museum and is the chairman of the Hermann Struck Foundation.
